Watching TV shows on DVD, instead of when they air, works for me.
We started because we had to. Out here in the boonies we can't get any reception. We had seen a couple episodes of Lost on a fluke. We LOVED it. It was seriously one of the best shows we had ever seen. But it wouldn't come in clear enough for us to see or hear. So we just had to stop watching. Not long after that Netflix had Lost to rent. So we figured why not? Have you seen Lost???? Every episode is better than the one before it. You are on the edge of your seat, screaming in anguish because the show is over. Who writes this stuff? We were glad, when we stopped screaming, that we could just pop in the next disk...or push play, whatever.
Then we discovered that some other shows we had wanted to watch are also on disk. ER, Heroes and now X-Files and The Office.
It works so great because there is no waiting for the next episode or COMMERCIALS. Zoom. Press play. Watch it. Pause it to get popcorn and root beer (oh, is that just me?) and go to the restroom. So no need to watch TV anymore or figure out how to record your favorite shows. Netflix all the way.
What shows do you love that we should get?

plus you can bypass the commercials and dont have to wait a week for the next episode!
Love shows with no commercials! Thanks for the tip. How affordable is Nexflicks?
VERY affordable. If you regularly rent movies anyway, it's way cheaper than that.
If you click on Netflix in my post you can get 2 free weeks.
We do the same thing too! I have also found that a lot of the networks have current episodes online so that you don't have to wait for the whole season to come out on DVD.
