Biggest Loser--The winner, so far: Melissa

Sorry for not posting the stats yesterday, I was driving to Houston. I'm here now and relaxing and going to enjoy some down time.

I still need a LOT of weights.  So get them into me today and I'll update as we go.

So far:

Melissa        2.78%
Me               1.65%
Carolyn         .55%

There were quite a few people who either gained a small amount or just maintained their weight from the week before.  Don't get discouraged.  We are in this for the long haul.  Some weeks will just be that way.

We've got $25 in our pot and some exercise equipment.   I have a bet with Yara, another contestant, that there won't be half dressed girls at 6 Flags on Thursday for homeschool day. Whoever loses has to contribute $5 to the pot.  So one way or another the pot is going up!  If you are going to go 6 Flags, please get fully dressed so I can win.

Let's review our tips.

  1. Drink ice cold water.  Your body actually burns calories drinking it AND it helps you feel full.
  2. Write everything down.
  3. Get rid of unhealthy foods in the house.  It doesn't matter what everyone likes; they'll make do with the healthy stuff.
  4. Stop drinking sodas, including diet.
This weeks tip is measure your food.  I know this can be time consuming and cumbersome, especially if you are feeding a family.  AND it goes hand in hand with writing everything down.  Listen, if you want to succeed at this, you've got to do it the right way.  And evidence has proven that people who write down their foods and measure out portions lose more weight and keep it off longer.  I can't make this stuff up. Okay, I could make this stuff up, but I'm not this time.  Maybe it is the kind of thing I would make up because I do like to make stuff up and pass it off like I'm some kind of genius.  But I'm not.  I saw it on The Biggest Loser and heard it in Weight Watchers and have read it a million times.  So, see?  It's true.

If you measure out your food, you just might see that instead of the 220 calories you thought you were eating for that plate of spaghetti, you actually had 440, because that 220 is for a cup and you have been eating two cups.

Seriously, write it down and measure it.

OR eat pre-measured foods like fruit and vegetables, which are hardly any calories, and you actually burn calories to digest, in some cases.

We can do this.  Don't give up.  Don't get disappointed.  Just do the hard work. (YES, it's hard.  What did you think?)  If you've been with us for a few weeks and aren't seeing results, follow these tips I'm giving each week.  Just institute one small change a week and before you know it you'll be ten pounds lighter.  WE CAN DO THIS!!!!
