Wordful Wednesday-Swim and Sun

Wordful Wednesday is for those of us who like to showcase a photo(s) but that just can't seem keep our mouths shut about it(them). If you'd like to play along, post a photo on your blog, and let the words roll. 7 Clown Circus is hosting us today. Thanks for playing along! Today's theme is about taking a trip.

We decided to split the drive into two days so we wouldn't spend the entire first day of our vacation driving. We left on Friday night and when Jeff got tired of driving we stopped at a motel.

Here are the girls all sleeping together. I showcase this photo because Jeff loved it.

Once we arrived at our condo on Saturday, we crashed. But that very next day we went down to the beach, and every day after. We would chill for a little while then spend the morning at the beach. Go have lunch and rest time, then head back down. After dinner we'd go back again.

Here is Jeff taking the little ones out to the ocean.

This was one of the rare occasions when Asa wasn't glued to me. He did not do anything on the beach without a parent right beside him.

Our favorite restaurant was Lambert's. They threw your rolls to your table. Here is Jeff catching one. But that wasn't all. They brought so much food to your table, before your meal even arrived, that you couldn't even eat your meal: fried okra, potatoes and onions, mac and tomatoes, etc. Not only that but they spent the meal playing jokes on you. Kati had fake mustard squirted on her and fake tea spilt on her. I had a fake plate of food spilled on me. The people there really seemed to like their job, except the lady who was giving out black eyed peas...she must have wanted to give out balloons or something.

After the first few days of taking baths three times a day to wash the sand off we realized that it was more convenient to let them swim in the pool after dinner. Then no baths. So every night until bed time we swam at the pool.

Now pretty much the ONLY thing we did for our entire vacation is swim. However we did get four free tickets per day to a Family Fun spot. So the little ones rode some rides. I know it doesn't look like they are enjoying themselves much, but trust me, THEY ARE! They loved it! As soon as we went there (twice) Asa would start asking to ride rides.

Kati and Kori rode the go carts. Evidently they veered off course. The lady who worked the tracks, who had to be asked to actually do her job instead of text her boyfriend, did not like that and yelled at them.

This was pre-yelling. Okay, maybe yell is too harsh a word. But when some random teenager who hates her job and wont get off the phone for two seconds so your kids can ride go carts gets onto your kids for trying to have fun when no one gave them instructions in the first place you tend to over react.

Everyone's favorites were the bumper boats. I didn't ride the first day and I shouldn't have ridden the last day. BECAUSE I'm six months pregnant and these things are not made for pregnant women to be getting in and out of. But the HUMIDITY was like 229% so I thought getting cooled off in there would be great. We were ALL soaked.

The little ones loved it too...again, you can't tell, but trust me.

Here is the souvenir shop. We drove past this shark every day and the kids REALLY wanted to buy souvenirs here. So I took a picture. Millicent was a little scared...but supposedly they are all making fake faces. I'm not so sure.

And other than eating out a LOT, that was pretty much all we did. IT WAS GREAT.

Plus I read the first three books of Twilight. What more could a girl ask for? A week to sit by the ocean, in the sun, and read the best books on the planet, while her children played nearby and her husband read some boring book called the Fountainhead.

Yes...I dare not compare a lout like Ayn Rand with the genius who wrote Twilight.

The photos make me want to go back. Right. Now.

Looks like a lot of fun. And don't you just love the Twilight books? I read them all last spring/summer and couldn't wait for Breaking Dawn. It's a good one, but the third is still my favorite.

Looks like you had fun. We did the 2-day driving split thing and I definitely liked it better. Now whenever I plan a vacation involving a long drive, I like to plan for one night in a town halfway there so it doesn't seem like as much.

you torture your children with rides? omg! lol

stephanie, and don't forget, the hotel is half the fun of the "cation"!

pool swimming after beach - why didn't I think of that????? Rest assured, I will remember it from now on, how brilliant!

Lamberts??? There's more than one Lamberts in the world??? I thought the only Lamberts, Home of the Throwed Rolls, was in Missouri (south of St Louis). I used to live in STL, but I've never been - even though I'd love to. I think it would be fun. They've even been featured on the Travel Channel for one of their "best of... some type of top 10 restaurant list".

anyway... it looks like a fun family time with the rides and bumper boats too

happy SITS day!
