Remember the more comment love you give, the more comment love you get so, comment comment away.

The Prompts:

1.) Why did you do it? Because I couldn't help myself.

2.) What is a common misconception about you? That I'm shy. Nope, that's true. That I'm short. Nope, that's true too. That I'm really smart. Oops.

3.) Describe a moment when you felt afraid.

4.) In what ways are you turning into your mother? Well I noticed not too long ago, that I was blaming people. My mom came over one day and she does it too. I prayed about it and now I've stopped.

5.) Are you always right? Well yea, except for when I'm wrong, which is mostly never.

---------------------------------------------------------

I'm a pretty brave person...I don't get scared often or easily. That's not to say I put myself in situations where I would have to be a hero. Mostly I stay at home and dig coins out of my sons mouth, that's about the extent of my heroics around here. Until this particular day....

We like to go to garage sales on Fridays during the summer. The girls know all the rules and patiently, and usually quietly, look around. They have their own money to spend and it burns a hole in their pockets. So they enjoy looking too.

As we were leaving a garage sale, Kati and Kori were lagging behind a little. Kati more so than Kori. Not terribly far, about half the length of the driveway. But I was up ahead talking to Ashlea, discussing the merits of the garage sale, I'm sure. It was too expensive, or their stuff wasn't nice enough, or how I was looking for that just right book or movie.

As I'm almost to the car, anticipating the girls coming up behind me, I hear a blood curdling scream...."MOMMY!"

Let me tell you. My blood ran cold. My adrenaline surged. I panicked. What/who/why? MY BABY!

I turned around (it's giving me goosebumps to relive it) to find Kati lifted in the arms of some strange boy. She's freaking out. She is scared beyond words. Her eyes are huge and round. She is not crying, not making a sound, trying to wiggle out of his grasp.

I run as quick as I've ever run anywhere and told him, loudly, forcefully, albeit politely, to put her down RIGHT NOW!

He did.

I hugged her and quickly marched her to the van, with my arm around her, asking her repeatedly, "Are you okay, honey? Did he hurt you? Are you okay?"

We loaded up in the van. Kati started talking about how scared she was and then I just started crying. WHEW! All that adrenaline just came rushing out of me and escaped in the form of tears. I was so relieved. I was shaking still and crying still, but everything was okay.

He was a young, mentally challenged boy, just trying to help in a way that made sense to him. That's why I didn't shove him to the ground or call the police. His parents immediately started scolding him, but I'm not sure he understood. All I know, is that I will never, ever forget the look on Kati's face or the sound of her screaming my name. Even now when I talk about it I get all choked up.

Now it's your turn. See how easy it is.

That is so freaky - if some stranger picked up my boy, I'd probably pretend my arm was a baseball bat. Good thing you didn't do that! I'm sure his intentions were good, but it's scary for a child.

Oh man! I'm with Kelly, I was freaked out too!

I'm glad the story ended with a well-meaning creepy man instead of one who was not.
