Works for Me Wednesday

Potty Training

I'm not going to talk about all the signs to check for readiness. I'm not going to talk about rewards to use. I'm just going to briefly tell you what works for me for potty training.

Nudity.

That's it. Nudity.

I also put the potty chair in the living room. I remind a little (well a lot actually) every now and then. And nudity. Oh yea, and a carpet cleaner.

But yea, nudity. Seems to work.

Alas, two things:

For some reason, even though Millicent has been potty trained for oh...I guess...6 months or more...she has decided to pee on the floor every chance she gets. Anyone know any advice for this?

Because we are a modest family, I don't think it's appropriate for younger girls to see Asa naked....so HOW are we going to go about potty training Asa????

(Wish I had a picture of Millicent on the potty...oh how she would love that when she got older....her going potty for the entire world to see...)

I'm still considering the nudity thing. That's what we did for the boys, but now that Melia will be the next one, I'm not sure about her walking around without clothes on. Maybe just a shirt?

You know, a lot of people told me to try this with my son, but it didn't work. If the kid's not ready, the kid's not ready. He didn't end up PT'ing until he was 4. :(

I keep telling myself I need to try the naked thing... but I'm so dreading all the cleanup. My 1st son is a little over 3yr and he can go on the potty... he just has far more important things on his mind and doesn't ever volunteer. He refuses to go #2 on the toilet. Soooo ready to get him out of diapers.

put a onesie shirt on him--unsnapped. It keeps things pretty covered (although you may need to change it as he's likely to pee on it every time he goes...)

works for us!

I like the onsie idea.

Yea, every child is different! What works for some might not work for others. WHEW! FOUR YEARS OLD.

Sooo cute! I'm so glad I found your blog. I guess if I added anything--after two daughters from a previous marriage who are now 18 and 15 PLUS a tubal-reversal baby who turned 2 Friday--M&M's have worked for me. Among other things...

I've had a note on a list of blogpost ideas titled "M&Ms on My Toilet".

You have a beautiful family.
