Tuesdays Unwrapped: Kati blessed me

Sometimes as moms we get bogged down in the day to day; in the disobedience and backtalk and crying; the getting everyone dressed and fed and diapered; the schooling and playing and reading.  We get so bogged down that we forget about how much we love our children, sometimes.

Lately, I've been overlooking the joy in my daily life.  I hate it when I get there. Do you ever do that?  Do you ever get so busy just thinking about what needs to change that you forget to look at the already-there-goodness?  I hope I'm not alone in that.

We love to have nightly Bible studies together.  We sing a few songs, read something from the Word, talk about it and then pray as a family.

We go around the room and ask if there are any prayer requests. Then we ask someone to pray for that need.  I always end my evening with a feeling of love, peace and joy from having had that time together with God, as a family.

The other day, when I was having such a rough day, I asked if there were any prayer requests.

We've been praying for a sweet boy named Jeremiah, who was recently adopted from Taiwan and spent almost a month in the hospital.  Kati prayed for him every single day; at meals, at Bible studies, in the car.  She asked about him every day.

The other day, when I was forgetting to have joy, I told Kati that Jeremiah was back in the hospital.

We talked about him for a few minutes.  About how, no matter what happens, he's better off in his forever family, than he ever was in the orphanage.

As more prayer requests were brought up, Kati wanted to pray for all of them!  Every time a request was brought up, she'd say, "Me.  I'll pray for them."

The other day, when I was feeling discontent, Kati showed me her best, most beautiful attributes.  Her zest for prayer. Her heart for the hurting.  Her love of others.

The other day, when I was feeling down, Kati picked me up.  Without even knowing it.

What a blessing.

Such a blessing when we take the time to notice the gifts our children are- thanks for the reminder!

Katie really is a blessing. She always volunteered to pray in my class and was always concerned about others.

She is beautiful. And from the sound of it, she has an even more beautiful heart. Don't you just love seeing God moments in your kids? Oh, I do!

Beautiful! What a sweet blessing. I think our family would benefit from time like that. Learning, reflecting and praying as a family.

I have certainly learned from this. I too get bogged down in day to day life... stressing over laundry, cleaning, work, and many more things that I tend to forget the JOY that I have when I am looking for "happiness". I don't know how many times we have been told that happiness is a feeling or emotion and joy is something we've been given. Praise God for a reason to be ever joyful!! Don't take for granted the "automatics" like the love of your husband and children and all of the blessings we have been given in the simple things in life.
Thanks, Michelle!!!
