Writer's Workshop-This is a Holy Moment

My favorite blogging day of the week:  Writer's Workshop.  Visit Mama Kat to play along.

The Prompts:

1.) Write about your wedding song. What was it and why did you choose it?

2.) A movie you probably should have previewed before letting your kids watch.

3.) We talk about mother’s guilt a lot…who needs it? Describe a good mom moment!

4.) Post a picture and a description that fits into this quote for you: “How far to heaven? Just open your eyes and look. You are in heaven” -Shankar

5.)Earthquake! Where were you when it happened?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.) Write about your wedding song. What was it and why did you choose it?

Originally I had planned several songs for our wedding.  But then we eloped, and I stopped putting as much effort into it.  And the friends whom I had asked to sing didn't even come to it....don't ask me why.

So the ONLY song that got sung was Holy Moment.

It was the theme for our marriage:

As we come today
We remind ourselves of what we do
That these songs are not just songs
But signs of love for you
This is a holy moment now
Something of heaven touches earth
Voices of angels all resound
We join their song
Come come come
Let us worship God
With our hands held high
And our hearts bowed down
We will run run run
Through your gates o God
With a shout of love, with a shout of love
Lord with confidence
We come before your throne of grace
Not that we deserve to come
But you have paid the way
You are the holy king of all
Heaven and earth are in your hands
All of the angels sing your song
We join them now

So you see how that works perfectly for a wedding.

Another song that I wanted sung was Godsend.  A friend from college, who is also an actor, Zakee (you out there Zakee?) was suppose to sing it.

Hoping, praying, I've been waiting
Everybody needs somebody to love
There's no question, straight from heaven
You're my angel, I'm so crazy for you

(chorus)
You're a Godsend
A blessing from above
You've been God-sent to me
You're the Godsend
I've been dreaming of
You're a Godsend

Holding your hand, touching your face
I will love you now and always I swear
I will never forget that first moment we met
When two worlds collided and I found my best friend

(repeat chorus)

(bridge)
I was made for you, you were made for me
In this lonely world, we were meant to be in love

I will never forget that first moment we met
When two worlds, they crashed in
And I found my best friend

So YEA!  I love reading these lyrics.

Lastly, I was having a friend sing who sounds like an angel.  At one point during our ceremony we had a ring exchange for the girls.  Jeff had a ring for Ashlea, and I had rings for Kati and Kori.  I wanted this song for that.

Tomorrow morning if you wake
up and the sun does not appear
I will be here
If in the dark, we lose sight of love
Hold my hand, and have no fear
'Cause I will be here
I will be here
When you feel like being quiet

When you need to speak your mind
I will listen
And I will be here
When the laughter turns to cryin'
Through the winning, losing and trying
We'll be together
I will be here
Tomorrow morning, if you wake up
And the future is unclear
I will be here
Just as sure as seasons were made for change

Our lifetimes were made for these years
So I will be here
I will be here
And you can cry on my shoulder
When the mirror tells us we're older
I will hold you
And I will be here
To watch you grow in beauty
And tell you all the things you are to me
I will be here

I will be true to the promise I have made
To you and to the One who gave you to me
Tomorrow morning, if you wake up
And the sun does not appear
I will be here
Oh, I will be here

Again, perfect, no?  I cannot remember if we ended up playing this on a CD or didn't have any music.  But since I can't remember, it's the thought that counts, right?

Of course, our first song to dance to was suppose to be our song:  Wait for Me by Rebbecca St. James.  I can't remember what we danced to.  I do remember dancing.

Am I the only who doesn't remember their wedding?  It's partially recorded.  If you can believe it my in-laws camera went out DURING the ceremony.

Now I haven't forgotten that I was going to tell you about how Ashlea's birth went, I'm just busy holding and helping.  So here's another sneak peek:

What lovely songs! I think they fit the wedding you described perfectly! I love the idea with the rings for ya'lls girls and the song you had playing for it. So lovely!

You have one adorable grandbaby as well! What a little beauty. I'm so glad I participated in the writers workshop this week, I'm having a great time reading all the posts!

You are not the only one who can't remember their wedding. I remember two things from my wedding...walking down the aisle with my dad to our friend singing Butterfly Kisses, and that my dad, in his little speaking part, said the word sex. That is about all I remember. My dad was saying something from CS Lewis but I don't remember what. LOL

Your grandbaby looks SO sweet!

I don't remember mine either. It was kind of a blur. I do remember leaving the reception. However, our wonderful DJ did not check what we had chosen for our first dance, and it turned out that his copy wouldn't work with the sound system. So . . . he found the first happy love song that he could and played that instead. Then, he forgot to make a note of what it was. So now, whenever I hear a good song on the radio, I always say, "That was probably our song!" And get really excited, and really, it probably wasn't.
