Our Saturday night movie night

Thomas Nelson sent me Gigi's Big Break on DVD to review.  I was so excited because we have regular family movie nights and this was something other than Strawberry Shortcake or Disney.

I'm not going to bore you with the details of the movie because you can read that anywhere.  I'm going to tell you what our family thought about it.

First, I decided to have a concession stand for the kids (and us.)  I gave everyone $12 early in the day but didn't tell them what it was for. I told them not to lose it though.

When it was time to watch the movie I told everyone to get their pajamas on and come to the concession stand.

We had full size candy bars for $5, Coke for $5 and popcorn (in brown bags) for $2.

They LOVED it.

Then we watched the movie...and I took notes.  Of my family, not the movie.

Kori said:  They look like paper dolls.

Jeff:  But in a good way.

Michelle (thinking):  Oh, I need to get those paper dolls out that I printed for them at Christmas.  Kori is the only one who can cut good enough though. So no, or I'll be stuck in the kitchen cutting for three hours.  Never mind.

When I got back to the movie  (What?  Am I the only one?)  I noticed that they were using really easy, simple language to understand.  So even Asa was enjoying it...although it's not really a boy movie.  PRINCESS anyone?  Asa doesn't know he's not a princess though, which explains why he had on Mill's dress up high heels the other day and asked me to put the princess dress on him. And no, I didn't.

Michelle:  The cat is great comic relief. Thinking: I wonder if I can have tuna for every meal.

Jeff:  YES!  COME ON!  YES.  (He was watching the Sweet 16...so much for movie night.)

Michelle:  Jeff maybe God loves you a lot.  That's why you have so many girls. (That's what they said on the movie anyway.)

Michelle:  Millicent what did you think of the movie?

Millicent:  What movie?  Pretty good.  Turn it back on.  I want to do something fun. I liked it but I didn't like any of it.

Kati:  It was pretty good.  I liked the part where she got a new babysitter.  (I want one.)

Kori:  It might be harmful for someone to only watch part of the episode and not the whole thing.  Like when she lies and doesn't realize it's a bad thing until the end.  And the part about having a new baby in the house being bad.  (Wow Kori.  Wanna write for my blog?)

I LOVED the verses at the end.

Would I pay $10 to see the movie at the theater. NO.  But I prefer it to Strawberry Shortcake.

Sadly, I think your prices are pretty comparable. I am so glad movies are coming out on DVD so quickly now...it's much less expensive (well, except at your house, LOL).

Very fun post...and I do think Kori will need to guest post soon!
