Writer's workshop--an oldie but a goodie

The Prompts:
1.) If you were starring on American Idol TONIGHT and HAD to sing, what song would you choose and why.

2.) Take a picture of yourself right this minute without primping and explain to us why it is you have not washed your hair today.

3.) I just asked Pat to help me with a writing prompt so here's his: "What do you think about the NBA All Star game"...blech.

4.) What's your number one pet peeve? Develop a punishment for anyone caught in the act.

5.) Write about something mean you did to a sibling growing up.

-------------------------------------------------------------

I have so many pet peeves I can't even narrow it down to one. But before I go into all my many pet peeves and how I would make you pay if you defied me, I'm going to explain why it is I have so many. Just hang tight.

I'm ultra sensitive. There is actually a disorder called Highly Sensitive. Noises, lights, textures, situations, cause extreme sensitivity in me.

Here is an example from my childhood (not saying that this STILL bothers me though...and no, don't ask Jeff cause he won't tell you). If my socks did not perfectly align across my toes so that that little cloth string thingy was perfect, and not across the side of my toes or sideways or any other thing, I would cry. Did you know I'm not the only child who did that? Seriously, now you can buy socks without that seam. I could use a pair for...for Millicent..yea, for Millicent.

Loud noises get really intense, really quickly. Something that probably wouldn't bother most people, really gets to me. Crowds, kids being loud, someone raising their voice to me. All too much. But not just the loud noises, oh no...if it were ONLY loud noises, I could (almost) be considered normal. Nope, it's the tiny noises that no one but the dogs, and me, can hear. Ticking of a clock, someone chewing, a cricket outside, dripping water, a mouse chewing. Yes, I can hear a mouse chewing.

But the worst are lights. Blinking lights in particular. I cannot allow blinking lights in my house. Do not bring them over.

So you can see how I might get annoyed pretty easily. But really its not me, its this strange disorder.

With all that in mind, I will pick my least favorite sound. Loud chewing. And the person who chews the loudest is Jeff...and Ashlea...and my father in law. So if they chewed loudly I would banish them from the room. Oh wait, I do that now. Well not fil, because that would just be rude.

But then after I banished them from the room and I could still hear them, I would do their least favorite sounds over and over until they screamed. And everyone has one...

I have the same thing with socks! I wear them inside out now. My least favorite noise is a ticking clock - WHY must they be so loud!!!!??????
