I was sent a Nick Jr party kit of Dora the Explorer. And well...anyone that knows me knows that I will take ANY opportunity for a party. They sent me napkins, plates, cups, snacks and party ideas and recipes. Then I went and bought Dora prizes (and LOTS of others) from the Dollar Tree.
I debated whether to do an all out Dora party...they had made it easy with games already made up and recipes and even a website with more ideas. But instead I decided to use Dora as secondary and have a summer themed party. (Millicent does love Dora so there were lots of Dora prizes....and the fruit snacks were a HIT!) Here are some of the kids having a scavenger hunt. They had to look outside for things like a yellow leaf, a feather, a bone and a piece of plastic. They LOVED this activity. You can see a garden tool in the picture below. They were the ONLY group to get a garden tool. They were also suppose to get an insect. Kati and her friend found a paper bee that was trash from some fireworks we had set off a few nights before...pretty smart!!
And then of course, what's a summer party without water balloons???? We had LOTS.
I wish you could see the expression on our little friends face as she's about to get pegged. It's priceless. Click on the image and it should enlarge.
This is the game where everyone stands toe to toe and throws the balloon back and forth, taking a step back at a time. Millicent and Jeff won. Some of the prizes were goggles for swimming, nets for catching bugs (which they promptly used to catch a stink bug), sand pails and toys, and rackets to play ball.

I'm here from SITS and feel right at home, because your header verse was what we used in my son's adoption announcements.

Hiya! just stopping over. I posted after you in another SITSta's blog and thought I'd come visit. Looks like a fun party! I love throwing them for my kiddos, too. Also, I enjoyed your questionnaire above.
