A, mostly, random post

Spiced: A Pastry Chef's True Stories of Trails by Fire, After-Hours Exploits, and What Really Goes on in the Kitchen

I forgot to draw a winner for Spiced.

Random number generator says:  3

Kara.  WOW Kara.  YOU WON AGAIN!!  This is your lucky week.

I'm going to start doing giveaways on Tuesdays.  So help me spread the word.

You may be wondering why I haven't been posting my Survivor recaps and if I'm even watching it.

First, there is no nuclear war.  So yea, I'm watching.

Second, my friend, as I've mentioned, got married.  And well, let's put it like this.  He USED to get up in the middle of the night and record Survivor for me.  And now he's married.  GET IT????

So I'm not always getting it in time to do a post.  But I am watching it and I'm amazed.

You don't forget that I saw the foreshadowing about Russell and called him as the winner.  This is the BEST season of Survivor I have ever seen.  The season before Russell came along was so pathetic I almost stopped watching it.

Jerusha is so cute.  OH MY GOODNESS.

EXACTLY.

She does this amazingly cute thing were she puts her head down and looks up through her eyelashes while batting them.  SO CUTE!

She also rolled over the other day, has a tooth that just popped out, coos all the time with a "goo" and an "aaa" sound and smiles non-stop. Breastfeeding is still going great but she is pretty small.  We weighed her last week and she was a little over twelve pounds. She is almost four months.  Still on the growth curve though.  Our other children were  not.

Asa can count to 11.  He's two.  He also can speak very clearly.  And when he wants you to know he doesn't want to do something, he doesn't say no, he shakes his head while saying something in the affirmative. Like this:  "I want to go home."

But he'll be shaking his head while he's saying it. Meaning, he doesn't want to go home.

He's starting preschool in a few weeks.  Homeschool preschool, of course.

Millicent can count to 100, with a little help.  She is learning to read, by herself. She starts Kindergarten soon.  When I told her she was starting Kindergarten, she got real quiet and hung her head down.  Teary eyed, she told me she didn't want to go to Kindergarten.  When I asked her why, she said she wanted to stay home with me.  Poor thing.  She thought I was sending her away.

As you can see, the upload feature is working today.  Guess I wasn't the only one having problems yesterday because they completely changed it.

Ashlea is having a girl. We questioned the validity of the first sonogram.  But it's a girl.  She had another.

Asa won't even sit on the potty.  The other day at church I had to change Asa's diaper and didn't have a spare, so I left him in his pants. I thought, "This is it.  By the end of this day he'll be ready."

Not quite.

Me:  "Asa do you need to go potty?  I'll put you on the potty."

Asa:  "No, I go pee-pee on potty."

Um, yeah.

I'm about to start finish The Gargoyle.  So good!  It has the best opening to a book I think I've ever read.

I am loving The Biggest Loser.  Both the show and our journey together.  I over did it at church last night but I know I can get right back to it.  Baby steps.  Baby steps.  Baby steps. And some real life friends are joining in.   We can all do this together. Our pot is getting bigger.  And the bigger it gets, the harder I work.  Feel free to donate something!!

How are you?

Here is our most recent family picture.

I'm going on "vacation" next week. By vacation I mean that Jeff has work to do and I get to sit in the hotel and relax.  I'm taking Asa and Jerusha.  Then we are going to 6 Flags for homeschool day. I'm meeting an internet friend that I've known for five years or so and the birth of six collective children.  Is that right, Heather?  Or is it five. Love your new blog look.

I'll probably do some old posts.  Some of my favorites.  If you've been a long time reader, please tell me what your favorite posts were.  Or what post you read that helped you decide you wanted to read more.  Help me decide what to share next week.

You see my new look?  You, over there in the reader. Come on over and see my new look.  I got a header and background from Scrap E blogs. Then Kelly did all the work.  Kelly likes to barter.  She is fantastic. And cute.  And skinny.  If you need some work done and make things, you should contact her. See the chicken on Heather's blogKelly.

That's all folks.
