Writer's Workshop--How was your day, Honey?

1.) Who made you red hot this week?

Are you kidding me? I'm always even keeled and patient. Get mad? Never. Except when...well...a child tries to argue with me about something they know nothing about. Or a driver darts into the right hand lane, when they are behind me from making a left hand turn, and I'm trying to get over to the right lane, when I turned first. Or when Direct TV will not give me CBS so I can watch Survivor when it starts. But yeah, I don't get mad.

2.) A day in your life...recap.

3.) What decision are you having a hard time making?

No big decisions here. My decisions are:

Do I brush my teeth now or tonight?
Do I wear my hair in a ponytail or down?
Do I change Asa's diaper now or after he's had his morning poop?

4.) How will you enjoy your last days of freedom (aka summer)?

Just like I enjoyed them all. Sitting in the house with the air conditioner on.

5.)List your 7 most favorite summer items!

air conditioning
sunscreen
shorts
sunglasses
kids swimming pool
collapsible chair (WHAT? I'm fat and pregnant.)
the sun

A day in your life...a recap.

You are going to be so excited to read a day in my life. Afterwards you are going to wish you could just come and be me for a little while.

Yesterday morning, as I lay in bed, Millicent came in and said, "Can I watch cartoons?"

Even though her dad was up and in the living room she still woke me up to ask me that. So I told her yes. A few minutes later she asked for breakfast. (Even though her dad was still home and hadn't yet left.)

So I get up, because by now Asa is awake too and proceed to wake the other children up.

Our sink is mostly not working so we don't have any clean pans...and I haven't bought many groceries so we don't have much food...so breakfast is leftover fruit and toast. No one complains, but it takes Kori 30 minutes to eat. She hates fruit.

I do my blog post with Asa handing me the same book over and over and over. He doesn't like me to read the book though. He just wants me to turn the pages over and over and over while he says, gook.

It takes me an hour to get my blog posted.

Are you still there or have you fallen asleep? It gets better. Just wait. Well, maybe not.

We watch some cartoons. I tell Kori infinity times to do her chore. Meanwhile, Kati does a fantabulous job with hers. She spends some time playing with Millicent, which is great because Millicent has spent the morning begging/whining for someone to play with her.

After an hour of chore time I tell Kori to take a break because I have more chores for her. She didn't do something I told her to do on a previous day.

Kati doesn't get along with Millicent so I tell her to take a break from her. Kori starts on her "punishment" chores.

I read a book...for myself this time.

Millicent wants to play musical instruments so I tell her she can. She asks Kati but Kati doesn't want to, until she asks Kori, and Kori does. I tell Kori she can though. A few minutes later when I go to check on them Kori is messing with the guitars tuning strings. ACK! Stop that Kori.

Kati eventually gets to play musical instruments with Millicent which pretty much sounds like cats in heat.

Asa learns that if you hit a plastic bucket with a stick it plays like a drum. NEAT!

And by now I've given 12 time outs and "read" to Asa 54 times.

I'm tired.

I finish my book, which was quite good and had a happy ending, my kind of book, but am too tired to select another. It's on the floor across the room. Too far to go.

Luckily it's almost lunch time.

I heat up last nights spaghetti and we all chow. Delicious.

We take naps. Not Kati and Kori....they don't take naps unless threatened with bodily harm. But they go quietly to their rooms and read.

I turn on a Baby Story like I do every day. I fall asleep during the first episode. A commercial comes on for LA Ink and Millicent tells me it's naughty and that it's not the Baby Story. I fast forward. GRATEFUL for DVR but NOT for Direct TV.

After rest time I tell Millicent we are going to make cookies for church. She goes running through the house to let her sisters know. Unfortunately I have a chore for them and they don't get to help. They are hanging up diapers on the line. (Even though Kori asked me last night if I wanted her to take them down I told her to just leave them up. Then it rained...all night long.)

Millicent asks me to get her a chair. Asa gets his own chair. He only screams when it gets stuck.

We make no bake cookies and are mostly finished by the time Kati comes in.

Asa gets a taste so I have to give them bowls of it. Kati cleans the pan for 30 minutes. Kori doesn't get any because of the fruit aversion. She's on a sweets break for a week or two. (Somehow she managed to love her orange this morning.)

We get ready for church. Still there? My day is almost over.

We arrive at church. Our cookies were a hit. Several people said they were so good. Well what can I say? I used two sticks of butter.

We had a potluck and all my favorite foods were there: mashed potatoes, potato salad, pasta salad, macaroni.

I looked at Jeff's plate and he had vegetables and protein. He's on a health kick. Go figure.

Too full for dessert but I managed a small piece of lemon cake.

Drive home with a headache starting. BOO! Hadn't had one all day.

Put the kids to bed. Millicent has to fall asleep by herself because after laying with her for over 30 minutes she was still as wiggly as when we started. She does fine.

I watch TV with Jeff. Dog the Bounty Hunter is the best dresser. We cannot stop laughing.

Go to sleep. Immediately. I don't even remember praying.

Today's a new day. Just like yesterday.

Lol, I fall asleep to A Baby Story on TLC too! It's my official nap time show. Sometimes I can't help but actually watch, which only leads to tears when I see the new baby.

Congrats and enjoy your SITS day!

Mmmm... cookies. I should go on a two-week sweets hiatus, too.

Wow, I can't believe Asa actually lets you do your blog posts - I have to do mine while my munchkin is either napping or not yet awake in the morning, because he's so grabby and so fascinated by the keys on the keyboard. Happy SITS day!

Sounds like a long but nice day. I am always amazed at how someone with a large family ever gets anything done. I also feel guilty when they can keep up with things with lots of children and I can't seem to keep up with the house with one messy husband.

The air conditioner is my best summer friend too! ;o)

Husbands on the pregnancy empathy diet are much more fun! Except when you have to fight them for the last of the ice cream, or cookies, or cake--then they're not so empathetic! hehe What a day. Go sit down and watch Gone With the Wind, and at the end, stand up, put on your best Scarlett pose, and say it with style: TOMORROW'S ANOTHER DAY!!! Happy SITS day!

5 kids is a handful. My brother and sister-in-law have 7. 5 of whom were born at home and all of whom are home-schooled. I however only have 1 little one that was born at home and he can be a handful some days. I admire all moms especially ones with multiple children.
Happy SITS day.

Gotta go grab a cup of coffee and get MY party started. Where is that housekeeper anyway?

Oh, yeah, I don't have one. Darn.

Not the dreaded bucket-with-a-stick-turned-drum!! I can't believe you didn't have a headache after that performance:)
Your potluck plate looks like mine...love the carbs. Will toss a few veggies on top to make it look pretty, though.
Bet you slept like a baby, after that day:)

Congrats on your SITS spotlight! So glad you were featured because your blog is great! A day in your life doesn't get much better than that. You get to spend your days with your sweet kids and do things as a family. That is a true blessing. And by the way...we love to watch Dog in our house too. All those outfits are great! Now there's an idea for a couple's Halloween costume! Take care!

Like I said before, how do you do it? By the way, I have read all of the Twilight series like 10 times but I only have 1 child and in school. That helps. Loved the series and can't wait for the 2nd movie.

No way would I want to trade places with you--just reading about your day made me tired!

I noticed your book widget of the books you've read. I read two of the same ones: Mistaken Identity and Stolen Innocence. My husband and I both like to read so post book reviews of what we read on my "Zemeks updates" blog. Here's the link to our reviews if you're interested: http://karen.pnn.com/6632-what-we-ve-just-read

Enjoyed visiting your blog for the first time. I'll be back! Congrats on your SITS day!
