Valentines Day Tea Party

Tomorrow I'll tell all about how Valentines Day became important to me. So since it is, and since we love celebrating just about anything, we, of course, have a tradition. US? Go figure!

We have a tea party. Everyone gets dressed up in fancy schmancy clothes, usually play clothes for the younger girls. (See me above....oh how I miss my long hair.) Even Ashlea got dressed up...she wore the dress we bought her for our wedding, that had never been worn before and was only worn for the wedding and quickly changed out of the first chance she got. But, hey, at least we got our money's worth.

We make/buy finger sized snacks; sandwiches cut into hearts, M & M's, bunny crackers, mini muffins, cheese cubes, fresh veggies. (See picture above)

We also make tea and use real sugar cubes. Oh, how the girls love the sugar cubes. Which is great, because they hate hot tea.

This year we are doing things a little different. We are going to do a fondue; cheese and chocolate.

I will get veggies, bread, olives, and salami for the cheese.

For the chocolate I will get all kinds of fruits, pretzels and marshmallows.

Usually we don't invite anyone else, but this year Mimi is invited and so is DAD. YES, we invited Dad.

Since the girls don't actually like the tea, I think I'm going to make a fruit juice seltzer drink as well.

What do you do for Valentines Day? I can't wait to hear some new ideas for next year.

(The middle picture is Millicent, two years ago, enjoying her pb & j sandwiches. She used to suck the jelly off them.)

i love the idea of a tea party for valentine's day. my girls (and even my son) luv to have tea parties and get so excited when they actually get to drink real tea, though they do prefer sweet iced tea (like any true southerner) so that's what we usually use :)

I adore tea parties. My grandmom has one every spring, and it's always so much fun. What a great tradition.

This is so sweet. I make a romantic dinner with lots of red food and I light candles : ). I put pretty music on and give extra hugs and kisses.
