Labor update...NOT

Yes, you've seen that picture before. While I am as clean as I've ever been, (taking a bath or two a day to relieve the soreness) surprisingly I'm not in the mood for a picture. I've got to capture my belly being so low but...I'm just not feeling it.

And it's low people. I can feel the baby's head in my pelvis, actually engaged in my pelvis. WHY WON'T IT COME OUT?

And it's big. Our biggest baby to date has been a mere seven pounds. I think this one will be seven pounds and some ounces. Huge, huh?

There is lots of action. Like this:

Five contractions that cause a little discomfort that come every ten minutes.

Three contractions I can barely feel that come every three minutes.

NO contractions for an hour.

Ten contractions that are a little uncomfortable, mixed in with three that are barely there, over the course of an hour.

Two tiny contractions.

I forget about it and watch TV.

One big contraction that reminds me that I should pay more attention to my body.

Nothing for an hour.

Two contractions that WAKE ME UP out of my sleep and then nothing for three hours.

You feeling me here? I'm exhausted.

My uterus is so tender and sore from all this work. I KNOW this is all getting me closer and closer to my baby. I'm okay with it. I just would like a few hours with no action.

My back is hurting and so is my pelvis and head.

I don't mind waiting to hold my baby. I don't mind waiting on God's perfect timing. What I mind is the anticipation. I'm going nuts.

Is this it? Should I time these? These aren't intense enough. Better get some sleep in case this is it.

You know what I mean. AND at the same time...I LOVE the anticipation. I guess really the hardest part is just being so worn out.

I would LOVE to know how far dilated I am. If I had monkey arms, I might be able to check. My stubby little arms wont do a thing. I can ask Jeff to check, and he has and will, but, bleck, I just don't like doing that. Dilation means nothing anyway...I'm just curious.

Another thing is that I"m pretty irritable. Like everything is driving me nuts. I don't mind people asking me how I'm doing or wondering if I'm having contractions. I enjoy the attention and knowing that people are thinking about me. I just don't have an answer:

YES, I'm having contractions all day long. (They mean nothing.)

Then they say: Good ones?

or I might say:

NO, nothing is going on. (Flat out lie.)

So I don't know what to say. I just usually say not much is happening.

Tomorrow is a full moon. Lots of babies come on full moons. Therefore my baby will come on the full moon. I'm ready. Stay tuned.

Hang in there lady... I can imagine how rough it is... but it wont be long before you have that baby in your arms!

The back pain could be a sign that the baby is posterior and not anterior or other way around (meaning that his or her head is not facing the right way) that is a major factor in lower back pain and weird contraction. Our first was that way!

So what you could do to help, well the best way to help baby turn is cleaning/ scrubbing your floor on all four, I know that is the last thing you want to do *cleaning* But it could also trigger labor!!! double advantage!!!! Drink plenty of water (dehydration cause false contraction) and if you are fully hydrated and have real contraction then you would *know* !!!!

Hope this help and if any more question email me!

Oh sweetie...until you have a 9lb, 5oz baby you just don't get to call 7 huge, LOL!

Praying that things continue to progress (or START to?) and that baby will be here for you soon!

Are you scrubbing the floor yet?

I agree with Trudy, anything under 8 pounds is small :) But hang in there girl! You will make it through this nasty part of giving birth.

Hi Michelle, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment on my blog. Baby news everywhere, it appears! :) Biggest to date, 7lb? Wow wow wow. Mine have been "baby average" at 7lb 6oz and then 8lb3oz....anxious myself to see what #3 will be!

Stay grumpy....it's how we pregnant women get these nine months free to be moody. Stick with us.

Oh Michelle....
God bless you girl! That baby will be here any minute! Such a precious time!
I remember (even though mine are all teens now).
I had monster babies.....9lbs 7 1/4oz. monsters...and I went in early to be induced! I lived way too far from the hospital and my doctor was concerned that if I went into labor I wouldn't make it there in time.
Fun times!

Big hug to you sister! You CAN DO IT!!!
Thanks for visiting me over at Queenies!

WOW! Hang in there Mom. These are the hardest days, no doubt. But you are almost there!

My advice - a long walk, a glass of wine... worked for me!!

Excited to check back and meet the little one!

Oh hun! I'm so sorry! I went with that with my son. It last 4 LONG agonizing weeks for me! My last appointment (on my due date) I was in tears. I was in full swing active labor AT the previous appointment, and went no where. I was induced 2 days after my due date. Walked in (remember 2 days later) and had gone from barely a 1 to close to a 6, and didn't feel any of it!
These babies are stubborn, but we love them! Hang in there. You'll be holding your little one soon!

I hope you were kidding about the huge baby thing. My smallest baby weighed 8lbs and 9ounces. So 7lbs? Yeah that not large!!

Hope you are not tooooooo miserable!

I remember the anticipation. And the impatience! My son was a week overdue and that might have been the longest week of my life! :) I hope you're in labor RIGHT NOW! Good luck!

here some more tips

1. Eat spicy foods or pineapple.

2. Go for a walk or march up some stairs. This is thought to bring on labor because of the pressure of the baby's head pressing down on your cervix. At the very least, walking can help get your baby into a better position for labor.

3. Have sex. A favorite for many pregnant women, sex can help by releasing a hormone called oxytocin, which causes the uterus to contract. Additionally, semen contains a substance known as prostaglandins, which will help soften the cervix.

4. Nipple stimulation. For those who find sex just too uncomfortable right now, nipple stimulation may be a better choice. It helps to bring on labor in much the same way sex does, by releasing oxytocin. However, this method may take a bit more effort than sex to start labor.

5. Stretching of the uterine opening membranes. This can be done by your doctor or midwife and has been found to increase the chances of labor starting within 48 hours.

6. Complementary therapies. Acupuncture, massage, teas, herbs and homeopathic remedies can be helpful when it comes to inducing labor. However, make sure you go to a licensed practitioner who has experience treating pregnant women.

One home remedy that is often recommended to pregnant women is castor oil taken either alone or with orange juice. While some women swear by this method, many experts and women who have tried it will strongly advise you against it. Castor oil may or may not bring on labor but it will definitely make you nauseous, cause you to vomit, have diarrhea and suffer severe cramps so just steer clear of this home remedy.

PS antiacide with magnesium could prevent labor to start

I JUST had our baby girl less than 2 weeks ago...I had contractions 10 min apart for a week. It was not fun (putting it very mildly). I walked the mall the day before I went into labor. That morning (2 am to be exact) I was in labor....our baby girl was born that day. I think your body is getting ready....I so know how uncomfortable it is....
